Hello,
I'm new here and kindly asking for an opinion about the next situation. I have a Honda translap xl700 from 2008 and i am very happy about it.
Long story Short, a guy mounted a givi engine guard on it and a noticed after a few days that the metal regtagular bar were the givi is connected to the frame ( upper side front part of the frame above the plastic shield) has deformed / flatten a bit around 3 or 4 mm around the tiny givi plate applied with pressure on the frame. Do you think that's because the bars/ metal plate were screw to tight on the frame? I am concerned about the integrity of the frame. I have weeken the screws and I'm thinking I if there is something that I should do about it.
Thank you for your understanding,
Laurentiu
P.s i could upload a few photos for a better idea about the situation.
Technik: Engine guard
- Hallo,
Laurentiu

that is indeed an unusual and not at all nice damage. To ease your concerns a bit, the frame is made from steel and is therefore less prone to break after deformation compared to an aluminium frame. However, it is quite definitely permanent damage, and loosening the screws again will not help at all. Where the bars mounted at an official workshop? Do you ride off road? Where are you located?
Regards, Manfred - Hallo,
Thank you for your answer. I'm in Frankfurt, but the engine guard was mounted in a workshop,in Bucharest. After I got my motorcycle delivered here, I went offroad for like 30km (soft enduro ) the guard was already mounted.
Before I went offroad there was no sign on the frame.
Do you think I should do something about it or I could just leave it as it is, and adjust the screws ?
Thanks for your help

Regards, Manfred - Hi Nasta,
I would leave it as is, but regularly check for cracks, particularly near the edge of the plate. In addition, you might want to look for an alternative place to mount the plate.

Manfred - Hi Manfred,
Thank you for your reply. Do you think adding an aditional 10 cm or longer vertical plate under the Givi small horizontal plate, would be a smart move?
Also, can you please recommend a workshop in Frankfurt?
All the best
